Sweater weather can actually be a lot of fun. I remember growing up in Europe, it would get so cold in the winter and the best thing was to bundle up in some nice cashmere sweaters or cardigans; I miss that feeling sometimes. These beautiful Barrie cashmere pieces made me go back in time a little bit, to when wearing a sweater felt as good as soaking up in the LA sun. Barrie Knitwear, established in the Scottish Borders in 1903, is known for its premium cashmere and for its outstanding traditional expertise. Chanel acquired the company in 2012, and the Autumn-Winter 2014-15 season will launch its signature ready-to-wear collection. The designs are classic and simple, with a range of more elaborate motifs, patterns and colors. I was glad to shoot at Palihouse in West Hollywood: the hotel was the perfect location for recreating that European feel – a mix of modern lounging and retro style, working together just like the prints on these cardigans. There’s something cozy but effortlessly elegant about a long cardi worn almost as a coat, I had a lot of fun with it. Just walking around the place, nice little corners pop out at every turn; textures and palettes were perfect to coordinate with the cut and colors of the sweaters. Photos by Chad Wilson.
